Ruby Tuesday

I am writing this feeling a little chuffed that today is a Tuesday and I received the random title 'Ruby Tuesday' from my ipod. I am less chuffled that I have nothing to write on the topic of Ruby Tuesday.

Increasingly I am finding myslef questioning why I actually write a blog. Mostly I have very little to say about my life that could not be contained within the 140 charcaters of a tweet. Very few things of note seem to occur and I will be the first to confess that I do not have a plethora of strong feelings to rant endlessly about.

Yet still I come here every day (not including weekends) and force out a few paragraphs that have been mangled to fit a particular title. But what am I trying to get out of this? Why write a blog? Why does anyone write a blog?

I am not trying to inform anyone, I have nothing really of importance to say, I never have a burning desire to record all my thoughts somewhere- indeed the one diary I ever had included a total of three entries 'Went to Lianna's' 'Chips for Tea' and 'Rabbit Died' , apparently my life at the age of 8 included no other moments of significance. I also scarsely comment on current topics- I am hardly Samuel Pepys- I am seemingly too self involved to spend time peering in newspapers anymore. Alas, it was enjoyable while it lasted but without a 2 and a half hour train ride twice a day, a couple of times a week there has been little opportunity to engage with daily news.

The only reason I can come think up for why I bother writing this blog every day is because it is good practice. It is good to challenge myself to write a few hundred words on any topic on a daily basis. As a writer this keeps the old cogs working and encourages a certain amount of discipline. Other than that, I suppose, I have no reason for being here.

This is when I might as well tell you- Sorry, no answers here... probably best you move along and look somewhere else.

Not even sure if 'to write daily' is a good enough reason to continue... let's see what happens, eh?
