"The Time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things..." Lewis Carroll.
I am writing this from within some clothes, so much for naked blogging, eh?
I wish I could claim it was the time for something exciting like a revolution but I can't. Instead I think the time has come to return to my usual age.
All this week I have been experimenting with my childhood. It all started when I read two Jacqueline Wilson books- 'Double Act' and 'The Lottie Project' and I found myself enjoying retreating a while into childhood. I think it was all this political nonsense that did it. Rather than being a group up and thinking about it like I had done for the rest of the election I decided to become a child who had no real reason to pay too much attention. Yet now I think it is time to return to reality, however, not without commenting on some of the fun childish things I did this week.
Not only did I read two Jacqueline Wilson books, I also read two Enid Blyton books which I warped a little when Tweeting (I'll repeat what I said here else I will never be able to find them again and it amused me if no one else.)
Tonight I start reading Enid Blyton's 'The Naughtiest Girl' I suspect the title is a little misleading.
I have finished reading 'The Naughtiest Girl' and have reason to believe Enid Blyton was not as wholesome as originally thought.
It’s a ripping yarn- Elizabeth Allen is spoilt so is sent off to Whyteleafe school where she learns more than just her 3 Rs. #naughtybook
“Miss Scott liked the look of the boys.” Miss Scott is Elizabeth’s Paedophile governess. #naughtybook
“Elizabeth had only slept with Miss Scott before- now she was to sleep with five other girls!” #naughtybook
“Get dressed and hurry up or I’ll spank you with a hairbrush.” #naughtybook
Ok, I admit it- some quotes may be out of context.
Sadly the naughtiest girl didn't slap any babies like Sir Bart in my first attempt at writing (See Rip it up in the April archive).
In another bid to recapture my youth I watched Beauty and the Beast which I also thoroughly enjoyed... actually, although the whole point of this post is to return to adulthood I can't help feeling that watching a bit more Disney is definitely a good idea. Maybe Aladdin?
Here's some more Tweets (I know I am being lazy but the tweets pad it out and I like these things to all be in one place so I can find them.
Now watching Beauty and the Beast. It was this film that made me think walking and reading was a good idea. It isn't, you bump into things.
The people into furniture idea is scary really. I mean what does it feel like to be turned into a teacup and have someone drink from you?
Gaston (singing) 'I use antlers in all of my decorating' Is that meant to be manly? Interior design isn't usually. #beautyandthebeast
Now Gaston wants to decorate his house with the beast's head. Watch out Laurence Llewelyn Bowen a new designer is in town #beautyandthebeast
Throughout this week I could also be found playing Lego, eating copious amounts of Turkey Dinosaurs and pretending to be a mole burrowing down the tunnel of duvet on a double bed. And I loved it all!
I think I am always going to be someone with a real childish streak because I have always enjoyed returning to the past however, the sheer intensity of this week childhood rerun (maybe it was the 80s feel conservatives returning to power) is a bit much to continue with if I plan to be a grown up. Therefore I hereby say that the time has come to disband the childish week and return to my usual level of random childishness.
